Meet the feisty Paul Stahlberg
What is your title? Vice President Design.
Where were you born (and why)? Benton, Illinois. To free the trade show exhibits world from stodginess, monotony, and insipidity.
Where did you go to school? In a sea of sameness.
What kind of student were you (nerd, jock, brain, burnout, etc.)? Like a drowning man.
What was your first job? To keep from drowning in a sea of sameness.
Your worst job? Husband.
Your best job? Parent.
Why did you start Catalyst Exhibits? I knew there had to be a better way for companies to tout their wares to the world.
Can you tell me what qualifies you to be running this company? I often wonder that myself, but according to our brochure I have over 18 years experience in trade show exhibit design, marketing, and management.
What time do you get up? 5 a.m. Not sure what I do between then and 9 a.m., when I actually get to work.
If you could go to lunch with one person, who would it be? Goethe's Faust.
When you're not turning the exhibits world upside down, what do you do? I drive. . . everything.
What was the last movie you saw? "Starsky & Hutch."
Are you glad they're letting us put our own butter on the popcorn now? I think that's better left to the popcorn butter aficionados, don't you?
What is your all-time favorite book? Go Dog Go. Now can I go?
No. Who/what inspires you? The chick from "The Spy Who Shagged Me."
What characteristic do you MOST despise? Obviousness. Isn't it obvious?
What is your favorite travel destination? Anywhere and everywhere-'till the wheels fall off and burn.
