Terms Glossary

A/V

- Audio Visual is the equipment rented on show-site that runs visual media. Included are monitors, lap-tops, sound systems, projectors, screens, monitor stands, LED walls, Video Walls and DVD players.

Accent Lighting

- Accent Lighting is (typically) directional lighting used to highlight a particular area or object and draw attention to specific areas of interest.

Attendee

- An attendee is a person who attends an exposition. Attendees may also be "delegates" or "visitors."

Badge

- Credentials for entry to a tradeshow floor. Badges usually are color-coded to identify exhibitors and indicate attendees and job function. They also include bar codes for scanning and collecting leads.

Banner

- Banners are suspended panels of fabric or paper. Banners can add drama and focus to a specific environment. Banners are also used to cover up structural columns from the building.

Booth

- A tradeshow booth is defined as one or more standard unit of exhibit space. In North America, a standard unit is generally 10 feet by 10 feet of space. However, if an exhibitor purchases multiple booths side-by-side or back-to-back, the combined space is still referred to as a “booth.”

CAD/CAM

- Computer-aided design/manufacturing used for engineering drawings.

Call-Out

- A call-out is a specialized rendering (drawing) where dimensions, materials and/or other details are "called out."

Canopy

- A canopy is an overhead cover or scrim for projected images or light diffusion.

Convention

- A convention is an assembly of delegates, representatives, and members of an organization convened for a common purpose.

Corner Booth

- An exhibit space with exposure on at least two aisles. Some shows charge premium prices for these booths.

Custom Exhibit

- These exhibits are the "traditional exhibit house" products. The exhibit is custom built to specific marketing and company objectives and purchased, OR in our case also rented on a per show basis. Typically, the phrase "custom exhibit" implies purchase. However, this is not an accurate reflection of how things are. Custom exhibits may be purchased or rented. This is the business of Catalyst Exhibits.

Custom Rental

- These exhibits are the "traditional exhibit house" products except that they can be rented on a per show basis. This is the business of Catalyst Exhibits.

CWT

- CWT is an abbreviation for "hundred weight" - a measurement used to determine the cost of drayage.
